SILVER EAGLE BULLION COINS STRUCK AT THE PHILADELPHIA MINT!! The 2020 Silver Eagle is a beautiful coin, but this coin is a rare opportunity due to the US Mints response to current events. This is the 2020 P Mint Emergency Production Silver Eagle. Silver Bullion coins are normally produced that the West Point Mint, but due to safety concerns the West Point Mint was shut down from April 8 – 20, 2020. To help ensure production the Philadelphia Mint produced 240,000 coins. This will be a very small subset of the 2020 Silver Eagles that are made each year by the US Mint. This coin is graded NGC a perfect MS70, with the exclusive First Day of Release designation, designated “Emergency Production”, and placed in an exclusive flag core holder. Additionally these coins are graded First Day of Release which is same designation as First Day of Issue except it is exclusive to me. This makes this coin even rare as only a tiny fraction of coins will be certified First Day!!! Rarest of the rare. The US Mints response to curretn events has created a unique opportunity for collectors. Silver Bullion coins are normally produced at the West Point Mint, but due to safety concerns the West Point Mint was shut down from April 8 – 20, 2020. To help ensure production, the Philadelphia Mint produced 240,000. The Silver Bullion coins do not have a mint mark making the coins made in the two mint facilities indistinguishable, but there is a way to know. The coins come in large green boxes called monster boxes and each box has an individual serial number on the banding. The Department of the Treasury disclosed on April 27, 2020 that the Philadelphia Mint had produced Silver Bullion coins while the West Point Mint was shut down and the box tracking numbers were 400,000 through and including 4000,479 (see copy of Department of the Treasury letter in photos). A few of these sealed boxes were found and sent to NGC to ensure their authenticity, where NGC choose to label the coins as Emergency Production. Certified Philadelphia Mint struck American Silver Eagle. Exclusive First Day of Release designation (same criteria as First Day of Issue only more rare). Exclusive flag core holder.
